About Catalonia Walks - A Company Profile

Catalonia Walks is a small family business operated by myself, Peter Smith and my wife Maggie from an office in our home in the beautiful Eden Valley in Cumbria. Assisting us at Catalonia Walks are our sons Richard and Philip. Richard is a P.G.A. qualified professional golfer who also organises golf holidays to Catalonia. Philip was a holiday representative in Catalonia for several years and is a keen walker and wildlife enthusiast.

Having originally qualified as a geography teacher I soon entered the travel business where I enjoyed a 25 year career as a director of various specialist companies, covering areas ranging from adventure, camping, villa and apartments, school travel and golf. My expertise was always in product development and sales and marketing and my work took me to allcorners of France, Italy and Northern Spain. Above all throughout my career I have always been associated with tour operating in Catalonia. I therefore bring a huge amount of experience, expertise andenthusiasm to Catalonia Walks.

Having left mainstream tour operating, I was determined to downsize and go back to my early tour operating routes at the front end of the business. I have been a passionate walker and wildlife enthusiast throughout my life and for the first time in my career I have now successfully combined business with pleasure in my favourite corner of Europe. Apart from my enthusiasm for wildlife (I am a member of the R.S.P.B. and Wildlife Trust) my other interests include food and wine and a life- long association with Rugby Union.
