The Walks - Calella de Palafrugell -2008
At Calella de Palafrugel we offer standard walking weeks which are available to all i,e couples and groups of friends etc.These weeks are on a fixed programme of 5 walks with a day off .We also offer certain weeks for private groups with a minimum of 8 persons.The private groups can follow the fixed programme or we can tailor make longer or shorter walks.
All holidays are for 7 nights arriving and departing on a Sunday.( for extra nights see prices).

| Day 1 | Arrive. We will collect you at the airport or railway station and drive you to your accommodation. you can arrive at any time of day from any flight. |
| Day2 | Tamariu - coast and country 11km. We make the short walk from Calella to llafranc where we commence a short climb into the wooded countryside having visited an ancient roman wine press en route. We travel inland through ancient paths and woods and visit the 3,000 year old dolmen of Can Mina dels Torrents - an ancient burial chamber. We drop down a steep path through woodland to the pretty resort of Tamariu - take a swim or relax at one of the beach bars. From Tamariu the journey back to Calella is nothing short of spectacular, crossing beaches and rocks you eventually commence the slow climb back to the lighthouse at San Sebastian. |
| Day3 | Pals and the Guermany Gros mountain. 11.3km. Leaving the medieval hilltop village of Pals we pass through pleasant rural countryside before climbing through cork oak forests that flank the Guermany Gros. the summit of the Guermany Gros gives a spectacular 360o panoramic view of the Baix Emporda. We return to Pals via the north flank of the mountain and the old mine workings of Bofill. Free time to explore ancient Pals before returning to Calella. |
| Day4 | Palafrugell - coast and country. 12km. From Calella we head south to the Golfet Cove and its spectacular cliffs. From here we head inland through the ancient village of Ermedas to Palafrugell passing historic watchtowers. From Palafrugell we follow the path of the hermits through delightful countryside until we arrive at San Sebastian and its Spectacular cliffs. We return to Calella via Llafranc. |

| Day6 | Castell Plaja 14km. The last totally undeveloped stretch of the Catalan coast. Heading south from Calella we pass through forests and countryside before arriving at Castell Plaja, a superb undeveloped beach and nature reserve. visit the ancient Iberian settlement - still being excavated before returning to Calella via the spectacular Cami de Ronda beaches - all totally isolated and accessed only by boat or foot. |
| Day7 | The ancient villages of the Baix Emporda. 15km. Starting off at Fonteta this lovely rural walk passes through several of the regions best preserved medieval villages. Vulpellac - Canapost, Peratallada - Palau Sator, Fontclara and Pals. A gem of a day out and a delightful end to the week. |
| Day8 | Departure day (or extend your holiday) We will transport you back to either Gerona airport or Flaca station. |




The Walks L' Estartit-2008

| Day 1 | Arrive. We will collect you at the airport or railway station and drive you to your accommodation. you can arrive at any time of day from any flight. |
| Day2 | The river Ter and Torroella de Montgri - approx 14km. From Estartit head south adjacent to the beach and nature reserve until you reach the mouth of the river Ter. Following the banks of the river Ter, walk inland to the lovely market town of Torroella de Montgri. Monday is a good choice for this walk as it is market day. return through country lanes and by ways to Estartit. A low level walk with no hills. |
| Day3 | The Castell Montgri - approx 11km. Taking the ancient path from Estartit to Torroella we then ascend up the 360 metre montgri mountain with its 13th century castel. the views from the summit are spectacular. We then follow the local path to a second summit, the Montpla, before descending through an area declared of special natural importance. |
| Day4 | Isolated coves of the costa brava - 9.5km. Taking the steep road behind Estartit we are soon walking through wild and unspoilt countryside. this is a superb walk at any time of year but springtime and early summer are to be recommended when wild flowers and carpets of herbs are at their prime. The walk takes us to several totally isolated and inaccessible coves including Cala Ferriol and Cala Pedrosa. A medium level walk with some steep climbs and descents. |

| Day6 | L 'Escala 16km+ The beginning of the walk follows day 4 but continues along the national pathway the G92 to L 'Escala via Cala Montgo.There is a particularly spectacular section of the footpath that leads into Cala Montgo.You have the choice of continuing into L'Escala with your guide where you can take a swim or take lunch before being transported back to Estartit or spend more time in Cala Montgo and make your own way back by a more direct track to Estartit. |
| Day7 | The ancient byways of the Roca Maura. 11km We follow centuries old trails and tracks where local goat herders and shepherds still move their flocks in Spring and Autumn.We end the walk climbing the Roca Maura Mountain (300m) which domiantes Estartit and offers spectacular views of the resort and coast. |
| Day8 | Departure day (or extend your holiday). We will transport you back to either Gerona airport or Flaca station. |
