Weather in Catalonia

CLIMATE
A personal observation by Peter Smith, Managing Director of Catalonia Walks
The climate on the north Catalan coast varies considerably throughout the year. In general you can expect hot Sunny days in mid Summer, a warm Spring and Autumn and a short cool winter. However, climate is never quite so simple. Mid Winter can see occasional frost and an ice cold wind from the Pyrenees but it can also be warm enough to sit on the beach in sheltered coves in December and January. February to May are my favourite months as the clear blue skies of Spring give superb visibility for walkers. You can of course expect a rainy day at any time in Spring - a spectacular display of wild flowers and blossoms are more than adequate compensation. June and September are generally warm and sunny with an afternoon breeze and relatively low humidity. July and August are too hot for most walkers. October and November are excellent walking months - mild and gentle with an occasional wet day.

WINTER WALKING
Estartit is an excellent base for winter walking using our heated self-catering accommodations. Although the resort is quiet you will still have a good choice of restaurants and bars etc.
